The Reparenting Podcast

How can we care a little better?

Welcome, fellow adventurer, to The Reparenting Podcast.

I'm Jane Underwood—a recovering high-achiever who's been reparenting herself for over a decade. I'd love to exchange notes with you on the essential themes of life.

Reparenting, as I define it, is the lifelong practice of learning to become the "good enough" caregiver your inner child still needs.

Through personal storytelling, reflections from my own reparenting journey, developmental psychology, and the best available research, let's wonder together how we can make caring for ourselves a little easier, our relationships a little healthier, and life a little less lonely.

Together, let's wonder about the themes that shape our lives.

Care for ourselves : Learning to understand and manage our feelings, care for our inner child, and continue growing throughout our lives.

Care for one another : Learning to build trust, communicate honestly, repair after conflict, and nurture healthier relationships.

Find where we belong : Learning to contribute to our families, friendships, and communities while discovering the people and places where we truly feel at home.

My hope is that each conversation helps us understand ourselves a little better, care for our inner child a little better, and make life a little less lonely—for ourselves and one another.

I don't pretend to have all the answers. I'm just a fellow adventurer who's still wondering, still learning, and still trying to care a little better—one act of reparenting at a time.

Much of this work draws inspiration from the kindness, curiosity, and wisdom of Mr. Rogers, whose example continues to shape how I think about caring for ourselves and one another.

So, grab your coziest socks, put the kettle on, and let's wonder together.

Part 1: "What's the key to living a longer, healthier, and happier life?
Is it wealth, fame, or genetics?
In today's conversation, I'll put forward that the essence of our well-being lies not in these external achievements but in our 'social fitness'—the quality of our relationships and our satisfaction within them. This, I believe, is the true key to leading a fulfilling life.
